Maestri milanesi

L'architetto, designer e pittore Umberto Riva sarà il protagonista del primo incontro, che si terrà giovedì 3 novembre alle 19.00 nell'Aula magna del campus di Mendrisio (palazzo Canavée). Seguiranno gli incontri con i Maestri milanesi Gae Aulenti (17 novembre), Alessandro Mendini (22 marzo) ed Enzo Mari (3 maggio).

Il prof. Elihu Katz, protagonista indiscusso del dibattito sui Media Studies, in visita all'USI

Katz ha contribuito, anche grazie alla costruzione di proficui legami scientifici con autori come Lazarsfeld, ad innovare in maniera profonda lo studio degli effetti della comunicazione. Il prof. Katz sarà all'USI, in visita all'Institute of Communication and Health, dal 2 al 5 novembre e terrà tre lezioni aperte a tutti gli studenti, assistenti e docenti dell'USI interessati. Cerimonia di consegna dei diplomi per 11 professionisti di logistica e management in campo umanitario

La classe della seconda edizione del Master of Advanced Studies in Humanitarian Logistics and Management che sabato ha ricevuto il proprio diploma era composta da undici professionisti del settore umanitario provenienti da ben otto Paesi diversi. Howard Roy Williams, presidente del Center for Humanitarian Cooperation e già direttore dell'Office of U.S. Foreign Disaster Assistance (OFDA), ha tenuto la lezione magistrale.

Federica Sallusto eletta alla European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO)

Ogni anno i migliori ricercatori nel campo della biologia molecolare, della biologia cellulare e delle neuroscienze vengono scelti dall'EMBO per il proprio merito scientifico. La Dr.ssa Federica Sallusto, leader del gruppo di ricerca sull'immunologia cellulare dell'IRB, è stata eletta tra i nuovi membri.

Dalle aule della Facoltà di scienze della comunicazione alla ristretta cerchia di BSW, Leading Swiss Agencies

Fondata nel 2006 dagli alumni dell'USI Florian Anderhub e Manuel Gamper, Ander Group SA è un'agenzia pubblicitaria recentemente entrata a far parte, come prima ed unica società ticinese, nella BSW Leading Swiss Agencies. BSW è un'associazione di categoria che riunisce le circa sessanta agenzie pubblicitarie svizzere ritenute più meritevoli e i cui membri gestiscono circa i due terzi del budget pubblicitario nazionale.

Master Meetings

Da adesso fino al 25 novembre si svolgeranno i Master Meetings: eventi di porte aperte, rivolti agli studenti Bachelor, che offrono la possibilità di seguire alcune lezioni insieme agli studenti attuali di Master. Accompagnato da uno studente dell'USI che trasmette la sua esperienza rispetto al programma, si può valutare in prima persona se i contenuti proposti corrispondono alle aspettative.

Maestri milanesi (Masters from Milan)

Architect, designer and painter Umberto Riva will be the key figure during the first encounter, which will be held Thursday, November 3 at 7pm in Aula magna on the Mendrisio Campus (Palazzo Canavée). Events with Milanese masters Gae Aulenti (November 17), Alessandro Mendini (March 22) and Enzo Mari (May 3) will follow.

Prof. Elihu Katz, undisputed leader in the Media Studies debate, visits USI

Katz has contributed to profound innovation in the study of the effects of communication, thanks to the construction of valuable scientific ties with authors such as Lazarsfeld. Prof. Katz will visit the USI Institute of Communication and Health from November 2 to 5 and will hold three talks open to all interested students, assistants, and lecturers at USI. Graduation ceremony for 11 logistics and management professionals in the humanitarian field

This past Saturday, students from the second edition of the Master of Advanced Studies in Humanitarian Logistics and Management were conferred their diplomas. The class was composed of eleven professionals from the humanitarian sector originating from a full eight different countries. Howard Roy Williams, President of the Center for Humanitarian Cooperation and former Director of the Office of U.S. Foreign Disaster Assistance (OFDA), delivered the commencement address.

Federica Sallusto elected to the European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO)

Annually, the top researchers in the field of molecular biology, ranging from cellular biology to that of neuroscience, are selected by the EMBO for their scientific merit. Dr. Federica Sallusto, group leader on cellular immunology at IRB, was amongst the newly elected members.

From the halls of the Faculty of Communication Sciences to the small circle of BSW, Leading Swiss Agencies

Founded in 2006 by USI alumni Florian Anderhub and Manuel Gamper, Ander Group SA is an advertising agency that recently became the one and only business in Ticino to join the BSW Leading Swiss Agencies. BSW is a trade association that brings together around 60 Swiss advertising agencies considered most deserving and whose members manage roughly two thirds of the national advertising budget.

Master meetings

Through November 25th, Master Meetings, an open-door concept, allows current undergraduate students (from USI and other universities) the possibility to follow class lessons together with current graduate students. Interested individuals may then determine through first-hand experience whether the Master's coursework is a good match with their needs. Those who sign up for Master Meetings will be paired with a current graduate student-- the ideal person to relay the true study experience.
