2.5 million Euros to decipher the Human Immune Response: the prestigious ERC Advanced Grant to Federica Sallusto
Thanks to the grant from the European Research Council, Dr. Sallusto, head of the Cellular Immunology Laboratory at IRB, will develop the project PREDICT: Dissecting the human T cell response to pathogens,
allergens, and self-antigens. The research focuses on T lymphocytes, a cell type that plays a key role in the immune system controlling all aspects of immune responses.

Giovanni Boccaccio and the Art of Story Telling
On the occasion of the 7th centenary of the birth of Giovanni Boccaccio, a series of 14 public lectures dedicated to the author gets under way tomorrow at 6pm. During each encounter an ISI lecturer and one of the ten writers who accepted the invitation, will tackle issues relates to the Decameron. The first part of each evening will become a radio broadcast. The lectures will be
held in RSI Studio 2 in Besso, except those of 9 and 16 April, which will be held in the Auditorium of Lugano Campus.
INTERNATIONAL MASTER FOR PROFESSIONALS IN SPORTS MANAGEMENT
FIFA gives Recognition to Francesco Lurati
The award was granted to Prof. Lurati for his crucial contribution to FIFA's Master, allowing the programme to win first place in the Sport Business International European ranking of Masters dedicated to Sports Management. The Master is organised in cooperation with USI and each year about 30 professionals hailing from over 20 countries attend the programme.

Orlando in Purgatory
On Monday 4 March at 6pm in the Aula Magna of Lugano Campus, the renown Italian actor Silvio Orlando will read the II Canto of Dante's Purgatory in tandem with Professor Carlo Ossola. The lecture comes as the ideal closure of the first series of Lecturae Dantis offered by ISI last semester (dedicated to the Inferno). It is also a door which leads us up to the second
Cantica: the main focus of the next series starting in September.
The Swiss High Jump Champion is an USI Student
A student attending our Master in Marketing, Giovanna Demo, won last week in Macolin the Swiss title in high jump. This victory comes right after the one of Beatrice Lundmark (USI graduate) who won the indoor title in 2012. Giovanna will be part of team USI and compete in the World University Games in Kazakistan. These games represent the largest worldwide competition in university sports, and only the top athletes-students are allowed to take part in it.

A new Mobility parking space on Lugano Campus
As part of Sosta, the University's programme on social and environmental responsibility, one of the parking spaces in front of the main building will host a car sharing service offered by industry leader Mobility at a very competitive price. The programme and cars will be presented at the info stands, on Friday, 1 March from 2pm, and the official opening ceremony will take place on Saturday, 2 March at 9.30am.
Seeking a new Digital Ice Cross Downhill Champion
The qualification held in ten different Swiss Universities will allow the winner to take part in the finals which will be held in Lausanne. The best player could then try to qualify for the Red Bull Crashed Ice Kinect World Finals in Quebec, Canada. USI's qualifications are open to candidates between 14 and 30 years of age and will be held on Tuesday, 26 February from 10am
to 3pm in room 251. The contest is part of the activities of the student association United Students.
How to become an AIESEC Member
The largest student association worldwide, a real international organisation aiming at the personal and professional growth of motivated students, will open registrations to potential new members until 13 March. All students interested will have the chance to meet AIESEC at the Coffee Table scheduled for Monday, 25 February during class breaks from
8.10am to 4pm in the designated area between the Main Building and the Red Building. Another chance will be at the First Info Event on 28 February at 7pm in room 354. In March more information meetings will follow.
