A Super Microscope to understand finance
A tool capable of reading with unprecedented accuracy through the maze of financial matters, numbers of market trading and corporate finance. This is the aim of the project promoted by Professor François DeGeorge of USI's Institute of Finance and supported by the Swiss National Science Foundation with 500,00 CHF, under the competitive national programme
Faculty of Informatics: 55 graduates hailing from 18 countries
Last week the
awarded 11 Bachelor's degrees, 27 Master's degrees, 8 Executive Master degrees and 9 Ph.Ds. The ceremony was held in the presence of a very special guest: Facebook. The renowned company visited USI interested in the quality of our education in informatics, which allows students to earn a degree with both solid theoretical and practical skills. Congratulations to all graduate!

ACADEMY OF ARCHITECTURE'S PUBLIC LECTURES
The Image of the European City from the XV to the XVIII Century
On Thursday, 29 November at 8pm in the Aula Magna of Mendrisio Campus, the Architectural Historian, Cesare Seta, will host the second lecture for the series Finis Urbis? European Cities and Globalisation. Cesare de Seta teaches in Florence and Naples at the Istituto di scienze umane and is the founder of the
Centro studi sull'Iconografia della
città europea at the Università Federico II in Naples.
The latest Edition of
Square, USI's Magazine, hits the Stands
The cover story is dedicated to research applied to the field of architecture. A field that has a great impact on space and the landscape, but also has a profound effect on civilisation and coexistence. While facing greater challenges and increasingly pervasive technologies, it is of outmost importance to understand the effect that these changes have on architecture, and join forces in order to delve into research hottest topics. PNR65: PUBLIC SPACE IN "CITTÀ TICINO" OF TOMORROW
Friday, 30 November from 2 to 6pm in room C.0.62 (Mendrisio Campus), Paola Caputo, Massimo Mobiglia and Enrico Sassi will discuss about "Sustainable Communities". The lecture is part of the series of public lectures that tackles issues such as quality of the public space and culture of the territory, promoted by the research project PNR65 of the Swiss National Science
Foundation, conducted by Professor and Architect Michele Arnaboldi.
Love, which absolves no loved one from
Guest Professor Gian Luigi Beccaria, a renowned Italian intellectual, will read and comment the Canto V of Dante's Inferno. In the Canto the traveller meets Paolo e Francesca, lovers doomed for eternity in the circle of Carnal Sinners, who soon become a romantic part of the popular imagination. The public lecture will be held on Wednesday, 28 November at 6pm in the Auditorium of Lugano Campus.

Given the large number of visitors and the interest of the press, the exhibit The Public Space in "Città Ticino" of Tomorrow.01 - District of the Northern Region of Ticino River will remain open until 02.12.2012. Ricciarda Barbiano di Belgiojoso: Music of the short century
The concert series Per voce sola continues with a piano recital on Monday, 3 December at 8.30pm at Teatro Foce. The events focus on voice or instrument solo performances, promoted by USI's Institute of Italian Studies, and the Dicastero Giovani ed Eventi Lugano (in cooperation with Rete Due), to stimulate reflection on men and civilisation through artistic expression.
