With the beginning of the new semester USI is glad to welcome Olaf Schenk, Associate Professor for the Institute of Computational Sciences (Faculty of Informatics), and eight new staff members who started working for our University: Federica Boffa (IT Services), Simona Croce (L'Ideatorio), Sara Fedele (MSCom), Dimitri Loringett (Institute of Economics), Marianne Lucien (MSCom), Tommaso Merlo (MAS HLM), José Manuel Merlos Hernandez (L'Ideatorio) and Barbara Vogt (Media and Communication Service).

Architect Luigi Moretti. From Rationalism to Informal
The exihibition is dedicated to Luigi Moretti and promoted by the Academy of Architecture and the Archive of the Modern in Mendrisio, in cooperation with MAXXI National Museum of XXI Century's Arts and the Archivio Centrale dello Stato di Roma (Italian State Archive). Protection of the Individual in the Media: the deadline for the two seminars expires today
In times defined by the rapid evolution of media, also thanks to the impact of social media in our society, the protection of individuals is at stake. Experts hailing from different disciplines will provide the necessary tools to better understand the legal picture and move nimbly in this ever changing context. The seminar Mass Media and Citizens will be held on Monday 5 March, while the seminar Legal Responsibility in the Social Network will be held on Wednesday 28 March. Registration for

The public lectures of the Academy of Architecture will resume with the Spring Semester. Philosopher Remo
Bodei will open the season of the series Mare Nostrum, European City and Globalization with the lecture, The Good Government: balance and conflicts in the cities. The event will take place on Thursday 23 February at 8pm in the Aula Magna of the Mendrisio Campus (Canavée Building).

In the delicate times we are living, the link between finance and communication is becoming clearer every day. The European Commission invests 3 million Euros to promote research in Brazil to fight inflammatory diseases. USI's Institute for Research in Biomedicine is one of the beneficiaries. More information.
