PUBLIC EVENT SERIES RESUMES
The Institute of Italian Studies and the arts, from books to society
The public events return with three different series - Per voce sola, Qui e ora, and Storie e confini – and are organised by
ISI in collaboration with the Dicastero Giovani ed Eventi of the City of Lugano and RSI Rete Due. The success of the first edition led the organisers to augment the offering: the audience, especially youth, will be able to take part in 18 meetings that stretch from theatre performances to photography labs, and from encounters to lectures
and film screenings.

EUROPEAN JOURNALISM OBSERVATORY (EJO)
The EJO expands Eastward thanks to funding from the Swiss National Fund for
Albanian, Czech, Romanian, Serbian and Ukrainian: these are the new languages of the EJO website that will be added to the five current languages (Italian, English, German, Polish and Latvian). The project launched October 1, and according to the plan, the new sites will be active at the beginning of 2012. In addition to creating bridges between the academic world
of communication and that of the media professionals, the Observatory reinforces its own mission of contributing to qualitative improvement of the profession in different journalistic cultures.

Our most complex organ can be discovered interactively through numerous stations. The lab will display the brain's functions as well as diseases, with a glimpse into the fascinating world of
research in the field of neuroscience. Guided tours for USI students will be on Wednesday, from 10.30am to 5pm in front of the main building (Lugano Campus).

ITALIAN LANGUAGE COURSES
New Summer linguistic stay at USI for secondary school students from across the Alps
In July 2012, USI inaugurates a programme of Italian language courses geared towards secondary school students from across the Alps who have studied Italian for at least one year. The courses, which last one to three weeks, will be taught by USI lecturers with the support of the Institute of Italian Studies and the Institute of Linguistics and Semiotics. The initiative aligns with our University's will to protect and strengthen
the Italian language in Switzerland.
