KEY PLAYERS in TICINO POLITICS AND CULTURE TO DEBATE
Who needs culture? Culture asks,
What is the role of culture in today's society? Should public bodies fund culture? Does the cultural offering of Switzerland correspond to the expectations of its citizens? Are there adequate structures in place to support cultural activities? Giorgio Giudici, Mayor of the City of Lugano, Giuliano Bignasca, President of the Lega dei Ticinesi, Piero Martinoli, USI President, Tommaso Soldini, author and editor of GroundZero, and Daniele Finzi Pasca, director, author and choreographer, will respond to this and other questions. The debate, organised by Pro Helvetia, will take place Friday, March 25, at
6pm in the Lugano Campus auditorium.
SOCIAL GAME WITH A CULTURAL AIM
Man Ray Game: play, win, and familiarize yourself
with the life of one of the most influential artists of the last century
For the Man Ray exhibition that will be on display at the Museo d’Arte from March 26th to June 19th, the TEC-Lab launches its first social game with a cultural aim: a creative writing contest on Facebook. Every Wednesday at www.manraylugano.ch/game, a photograph and a question will be displayed about which participants
must compose a brief text that describes an imagined episode in the life of the artist. The game - open for participation through May 17th - will award great weekly prizes such as accommodations in Lugano,
entrance to museums and exhibition catalogues.
AWARENESS CAMPAIGN ON DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
The traveling exhibit "Beyond the silence" at USI
From March 15 to April 15, 2011, the "Beyond the Silence" panels will be on display in the atrium of the red building at USI. This initiative was realised
by the Commissione consultiva for equal opportunities between genders, in collaboration with the Women's Association and with the support of the Canton. The goal is to create awareness and inform the public about domestic violence. Near the display, brochures with important information - including a physical address to go to for problematic situations - will be available for the persons concerned.
