Graduation Ceremony for 201 New Graduates in Economics
The graduates hailing from 25 different countries will receive their diploma from the Dean of the Faculty of Economics François Degeorge. The Faculty will confer 69 Bachelor’s degree, 126 Masters and 6 Masters of Advanced Studies. The following awards will be assigned to the best graduates: the two prizes from the Ticino Bankers Association to the Bachelor student with the highest average mark and to the graduate who performed best in the Master Programme, and the Pietro Balestra Prize awarded to the student with the highest average mark in quantitative subjects.
Encounter with Jacques Gubler
An encounter with one of the main representatives of the critique and history of modern and contemporary architecture, Jacques Gubler, will be held on Thursday, 27th November at 6.30pm in the library of the Academy of Architecture (Mendrisio Campus). The lecture is organised on the occasion of
release of his book Motion, Emotion. Architecture, Movement and Perception. Together with the author and the book curator Carlo Gandolfi the encounter will also feature architect Mario Botta and the writer and essayist Bruno Pedretti.

The 15th class of EMScom has seen the participation of professionals of renowned Swiss and International companies such as Novartis, Volvo, Hershey and the UNESCO International Bureau of Education. During Saturday’s ceremony, the Burson-Marsteller Award for Consulting Excellence was assigned to the best consulting project. This year the recognition was conferred to the work carried out on behalf of Pro Senectute by Liliana Becerra (Mexico), Kathrin Gasser (Switzerland), Gilda Schertenleib (Switzerland) and Sauty Omar Timtey (Ghana).

While pension systems are becoming increasingly more complex, and longevity is continuously increasing, crucial decisions about pension and retirement are being shifted to the individuals. When to retire, how much to save for retirement, how to split between capital at retirement and annuity are only some of these important decisions. But do individuals have the sufficient financial literacy to take informed and accurate decisions? Are financial institutions providing a sufficient support in these decisions? The matter will be discussed on Thursday, December 4th in the Auditorium of Lugano Campus.

StartCup Ticino 2014 Award Ceremony
The best entrepreneurial ideas that are about to or that have given life to new businesses in the Italian speaking Switzerland will be awarded on Thursday, December 4th from 6.15pm in the Aula Magna of Lugano Campus. Thanks to the two main sponsors – BSI and LA
POSTA – and some co-sponsors (CTI, USI, SUPSI and AutoPostale) the prize amounts to CHF 50,000. After the presentation of the five finalists, the Alumnus Shane Legg will hold a keynote speech on DeepMind, the start-up he co-founded and which was acquired by Google for 500 millions of dollars. The event will close with the
winner’s announcement designated by a jury of experts and the audience. Registration is required.
