(Istituto Italiano di Scienze Umane) and Maurizio Viroli (USI’s Center for Civic Studies). The encounter will be held tomorrow evening, Tuesday, September 23, at 6pm in the Auditorium of Lugano Campus. A reception will follow.

Liabilities in a crisis?
EMScom Excellence-in-communications lecture will be held in Zurich on October 9 (Credit Suisse Forum St. Peter). W. Timothy Coombs, a crisis communication professor at the Nicholson School of Communication, University of Central Florida, will explain how important it is to cultivate relationships with stakeholders before a crisis occurs, so they can become a crisis assets. Indifference to stakeholders promotes their becoming crisis liabilities. Admission tickets for USI’s students at a reduced price of 100 CHF. Registration by October 2.

Venture apero on crowdfunding
Third party fundraising during the start-up phase can be vital for the success of a business. The next Venture Apero organised in partnership with SWISS STARTER, will tackle the issue of crowdfunding. Crowdfunding platforms help promote contact between demand and funds supply in an innovative way, by engaging through the web a potentially widespread audience. The event will be held on Thursday, October 2 at 6.30pm at Parco Maraini in Lugano. Registration by Thursday, September 25.

15 new students-athletes admitted to the SPORT élite programme
The programme is stirring up a lot of interest among athletes both in Switzerland and abroad. The students who entered the programme this year are 4 swimmers of the Tenero’s National Centre, 3 hockey players, 2 soccer players, 2 students active in equestrian sports, a golfer, a professional mountain biker, a field hockey player and a basketball player. The programme offers to all professional athletes the chance of a flexible study plan in order to reconcile academic studies and the athlete’s needs.

Call for Proposals for Conferences in 2016
The "Congressi Stefano Franscini", meeting platform of the ETH Zurich since 1989, gives the possibility to conduct research conferences at its headquarters in Monte Verità in Ascona. All researchers and university professors working in Switzerland are invited to submit their proposals for the year 2016 by January 15, 2015. The applications will be evaluated by an interdisciplinary scientific board.
A Seminar on how to become a Human Rights Activist
The University Group of the Italian Speaking part of Switzerland for Amnesty International, an USI’s students association, announces
training seminar on how to become a human rights activist in the Italian speaking part of Switzerland within the activities of Amnesty International. The seminar will be held on November 8 and 9. All students interested are welcome to take part in the presentation at a reduced price. The 20 CHF admission ticket includes the two-days of presentations, lunches, coffee breaks and a cocktail that will be held on Saturday, November 8.
