Cultural Tourism under confronTi’s radar
The encounter organized in the framework of O-Tur researches, will be held on Tuesday, 17 June, in the Auditorium Banca Stato in Bellinzona from 8am. The 2014 confronTi-tourism delves into issues related to cultural tourism: opportunities of such sector for the development of
a tourist destination will be illustrated, and some peculiarities concerning supply and demand will be underlined.
ACADEMY OF ARCHITECTURE
The 140 freshmen of the Academy of Architecture will animate the quarry of Arzo by moving from, towards, and around an object of minimal surface, which they themselves designed and built. The performance was
conceived within Professor Riccardo Blumer’s horizontal Atelier, in cooperation with the Conservatory of the Italian Speaking part of Switzerland. Scheduled for Wednesday, 28 May at 9.15pm the encounter will take place at the Cava Grande in Arzo.

The encounter will be held on
Wednesday, 28 May from 2pm in the Aula Magna of Lugano Campus. After an introduction by Dean Michele Lanza, several professors will illustrate what buzzes in the construction sites of their courses, through a presentation of the work carried out by students throughout the semester. The
programme includes the presentations Software Atelier 2 (M. Bronstein), Software Engineering Atelier (M. Lanza), Bachelor Projects (M. Jazayeri), HCI Design (M. Langheinrich e M. Landoni), Master Theses (C. Pautasso) and Artificial Intelligence Cup (L. Gambardella).
Advanced short program in MedTech Entrepreneurship at USI
The advanced program will be held from 2 to 6 June on Lugano Campus. This one-week comprehensive program takes the participant on a journey through the entire process of creating a medical device or diagnostic company from idea generation to venture financing. Lectures and seminars will be held by a world-class team of lecturers and instructors from industry and venture capital and will be complemented by case studies and extensive discussions.
LABISALP STUDY DAY
Community and Work Organisation
The study day to be held on Friday, 6 June (from 9am in room C 3.89, Canavée Building, Mendrisio Campus) will tackle the issue of community and work organisation in the Alpine and pre-Alpine area between the Middle Ages and Modern Times. The seminar will focus on the impact of the Alpine environment on work organisation and how
such organisation has changed and defined the life of alpine communities in respect to the ones of the valleys.

Wednesday to attend the lecture The Value of the Cultural Weave between Italy and Switzerland - held in tandem by Architect Mario Botta (founder of USI’s Academy of Architecture) and Professor Carlo Ossola (director of the USI’s Institute of Italian studies).
