PROF. GIUSEPPE RICHERI’S FAREWELL LECTURE
The Information Society between Economics and Politics
Dean of the Faculty of Communication Sciences from 2004-2006 and 2006-2008, prof. Giuseppe Richeri has devoted his career to the study of the history and theory of communication, media political and economic analysis, as well as the in-depth analysis of strategies and new media markets. At USI he was founder of the Institute
for Media and Journalism and the China Media Observatory. The farewell lecture is the opportunity to pay tribute to the valuable work carried out for our University and it will be held on Tuesday, 29 April 2014 at 5pm in the Auditorium (Lugano Campus).
EXHIBITION OPENING AT THE ACADEMY OF ARCHITECTURE
Giulio Minoletti: architect, urban planner and designer
Giulio Minoletti (1910–1981), an architect from Milan, stood out for his remarkable versatility and inclination to experimental research with shapes, materials, polychromies and the contamination between artistic genres. The exhibit is the chance to display the magnitude of his work in five different thematic sections. The opening of the exhibit dedicated to the architect will be held on Wednesday, 16 April at 7pm in the Academy Gallery on Mendrisio Campus, and it will remain open to the public until Sunday, 1 June.
AT USI THREE PUBLIC LECTURES BY PROF. JIANG FEI
Understanding the Chinese cultural setting
From 5 May to 7 May, prof. Jiang Fei of the Communication and Journalism Institute of the China Academy of Social Science will hold three open public lectures in the framework of a seminar organized by USI’s China Media Observatory. The lectures target researchers, students
European professionals interested in learning more about Chinese strategies in the field of communication and culture, in the creative industry and media. Registration by 30 April at email@example.com.
WORKSHOP RESERVED TO USI STAFF
Stress Management Seminar with Swami
Focusing on the causes of stress, the Yoga and Vedanta Master will help participants and promote self-observation by guiding them through an analysis of their behaviour while facing different situations, and helping them uncover inner conflicts. The workshop, held on Saturday 26 April from 9.30am to 4.30pm in room A12 of Lugano Campus, will be divided in theoretical and practical sessions of Yoga, relaxation and meditation. Registration by Wednesday, 16 April. The seminar will be offered again on Sunday, 27 April and it will be open to anyone interested.
LANGUAGE STUDY HOLIDAYS TO UNITE THE SWISS AROUND THE
Welcome for a few Weeks a High School Student from across the Alps
From 7 July to 3 August USI offers for the third time a study programme in Italian dedicated to High School students from the German and French speaking parts of Switzerland. We are looking for families willing to host them. The families will receive a 150 CHF refund per week (registration by 19 May 2014). This way you will help enrich the experience of the participants, by giving them a warm welcome typical of our homes. Family with kids will be facilitated in the selection.

The Swiss Study Foundation
For over 20 years, the foundation chooses the top students from all Swiss universities and supports them in their path through scholarships, training, networking and exchange. What requirements must a student meet in order to be accepted? In addition
excellent academic results and the knowledge of at least two national Swiss languages, all candidates must be motivated, have sense of responsibility, and good social and communication skills. Application can be submitted during the bachelor or in the beginning of the Master.
